Murray wins gold at Olympics against Federer

Andy Murray produced one of the best performances British Tennis has ever seen as he defeated Roger Federer in straight sets to win Singles gold at London 2012.

The 6-2 6-1 6-4 victory margin was scarcely believable against the man who stopped him becoming Wimbledon Singles champion just 28 days ago, and who was desperate to enhance his claim to be the greatest player of all time by clinching a career golden slam.

Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro won the bronze medal with a 7-5 6-4 win over second seed Novak Djokovic on Wimbledon’s Court One.

A delighted Murray said: ‘It’s number one for me – the biggest win of my life.’
